How stamped concrete works

Stamped concrete is poured like a regular slab, then textured with patterned mats while it is still workable. All of our stamped concrete projects are poured with colored concrete and finished with an accent color, which gives the surface natural-looking depth and variation.

  • Texture and pattern. We offer both seamless textures and repeating patterns.
  • Color selection. We help you choose a base color and accent color that suit your home.
  • Saw-cut control joints. All of our stamped concrete has saw-cut control joints, which look cleaner than tooled joints and keep cracking in a planned line.
  • Sealing. A sealer protects the color and brings out the contrast.

Caring for stamped concrete in Colorado

Decorative concrete holds up well along the Front Range when it is maintained. Plan on resealing every few years, keep de-icing salts off the surface, and use a plastic shovel in winter to avoid scratching the sealer. More tips in our guide to protecting your concrete through a Colorado winter.

Common questions

Is stamped concrete slippery?

Sealed stamped concrete can be slick when wet. A grip additive can be mixed into the sealer for areas like steps and pool surrounds.

Does stamped concrete cost more than regular concrete?

Yes. Stamped concrete typically costs $21 to $25 per square foot, with a $5,000 job minimum. Color, stamping, the accent color and sealing add labor and materials compared with a broom finish. Sand-finished concrete, a decorative finish with a fine, sandy texture, typically costs $17 to $19 per square foot. We will price the options for you during a free consultation.

How long does a stamped concrete project take?

Most residential projects take 2 to 4 days depending on size, plus time for sealing.
