Slabs we pour

  • Garage floor replacement
  • New garage and shop floors
  • Shed and outbuilding slabs
  • Hot tub and equipment pads
  • RV, trailer and extra parking pads

How we build a slab that lasts

  1. Remove the old floor. We break out and haul away the existing slab if there is one.
  2. Rebuild the base. Soft or washed-out soil is replaced with compacted gravel so the new slab is fully supported.
  3. Reinforce. We recommend steel or fiberglass rebar in the slab to make it stronger.
  4. Pour and finish. Residential slabs are typically 4 inches thick with a 4,000 PSI mix. Slabs that carry heavier loads can be poured thicker.
  5. Cut control joints. Joints are planned so any cracking stays in straight, tidy lines.

Why garage floors crack and settle

Most failed garage floors trace back to the ground underneath: poorly compacted fill, water getting under the slab, or soil that swells and shrinks. That is why base preparation matters more than anything poured on top of it.

Finishing options

Garage floors are usually given a smooth trowel finish that is easy to sweep. Once the concrete has cured, an epoxy floor coating adds stain resistance and a finished look. Exterior slabs get a broom finish for traction.

How much does a garage slab cost?

Garage slabs typically cost about $14 per square foot. Tear-out, base repair and access affect the final price. An epoxy coating can be added once the slab has cured for $6.50 to $8 per square foot.

Common questions

How long until I can park in the garage?

Plan on about 7 days before parking vehicles on a new slab. Concrete reaches full strength at around 28 days.

How long does a garage floor replacement take?

Most residential projects take 2 to 4 days depending on size and how much base work is needed.

Do I need to empty the garage?

Yes. The garage needs to be completely cleared before tear-out begins.
