What we pour

When to replace instead of repair

Hairline cracks are normal. Replacement makes more sense when sections have lifted into trip hazards, steps have pulled away from the house, the surface is flaking or spalling, or water runs toward the foundation. In those cases we handle the full concrete removal and replacement.

How we build walkways and steps

  1. Tear out and haul away old concrete if needed.
  2. Prepare and compact the base.
  3. Form to the right slope so water drains away from the house.
  4. Add reinforcement.
  5. Pour, finish and cut control joints.

Walkways are typically poured 4 inches thick with a 4,000 PSI mix. A broom finish gives the best traction in snow and ice, and stamped or colored concrete is available if you want the walk to match a decorative patio or porch.

Common questions

How long does a walkway or step project take?

Most residential projects take 2 to 4 days depending on size. Small walks and stoops are often faster.

When can we walk on it?

Usually after 24 to 48 hours. We will let you know if weather calls for more time.

Can you pour the walkway at the same time as a driveway or patio?

Yes, and combining projects usually lowers the cost per square foot because the crew and concrete are already on site.
