A concrete patio is one of the most cost-effective ways to add usable living space to your home. Golden Concrete Company pours new patios, extends existing ones and replaces cracked or sunken slabs for homeowners in Golden, Lakewood, Arvada and the west Denver metro.

Patio styles we pour

  • Broom-finished concrete. A clean, slip-resistant surface and the most affordable option.
  • Stamped concrete. Texture and pattern that give the look of stone, slate or tile. See our stamped and decorative concrete page.
  • Colored concrete. Integral color with an accent color for depth.
  • Patio extensions. Adding on to an existing slab for a grill, fire pit or hot tub.

How we build a patio

  1. Free consultation to measure the space and talk through size, shape, finish and drainage.
  2. Excavation and removal of any old concrete.
  3. Base preparation and compaction.
  4. Forming, with slope set to carry water away from the house.
  5. Reinforcement. We recommend steel or fiberglass rebar in the slab to make it stronger.
  6. Pour, finish and saw-cut control joints.

Residential patios are typically poured 4 inches thick with a 4,000 PSI mix. Most patio projects take 2 to 4 days depending on size.

What affects the cost of a concrete patio?

As a guide, stamped concrete typically costs $21 to $25 per square foot (with a $5,000 job minimum) and sand-finished concrete typically costs $17 to $19 per square foot. Backyards that a concrete truck cannot reach may need a concrete pump, which starts at $450.

  • Square footage. Larger patios cost less per square foot.
  • Finish. Stamped and colored concrete costs more than a broom finish.
  • Tear-out of an existing patio or deck footings.
  • Access for equipment and concrete trucks.
  • Steps, seat walls, fire pit pads and other add-ons.

Common questions

How long does a concrete patio last?

A properly built patio lasts for decades. Base preparation, reinforcement, control joints and periodic sealing are what make the difference in Colorado freeze-thaw conditions.

When can we use the new patio?

You can walk on it after 24 to 48 hours. Wait about a week before placing heavy furniture, grills or planters.

Can you match my existing concrete?

New concrete never matches old concrete exactly, but we can plan the joint layout and finish so an extension looks intentional.
